Selected Past Projects

Since our start in 2016, GCN has been able to carry out a vast range of projects for clients across social enterprises, international organizations, and Geneva-based NGOs, along with initiatives for IHEID students. These include:

Planning MotaWord's Geneva Division

A pair of GCN consultants worked with MotaWord, a cloud-based business translation platform, to develop an approach for establishing a new division in Geneva, devoted to translation services provided by refugees and asylum-seekers.

Medium-Term Strategic Planning with A4HP

A team of four GCN consultants worked for Alliance for Health Promotion (A4HP) to develop a strategic plan for the organization, outlining operational and organizational goals and priorities for the coming three years.

Analysis & Strategy for the WFP

Alongside mentor organization Sustainable Outreach, a team of two students carried out data analysis on fundraising markets as well as qualitative research in order to devise a fundraising strategy for the World Food Program (WFP), targeting the private sector.

Strategizing for Private Sector Engagement with IRHA

A team of Graduate Institute students helped the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance identify new potential funding partners, particularly within the private sector, and develop an outreach strategy. The project involved mapping actors in the Swiss water policy space who could be courted for partnerships or sponsorships, as well as strategic planning and development of communications materials to engage each of these companies. This is the Geneva Consulting Network’s second project with IRHA, following a project that took place from 15 June – 15 September 2016.

Consulting Immersion Day 2017

A half-day program exposing students to consulting work and applications, including a case-solving workshop, a CV workshop, and a roundtable with Graduate Institute alumni working at McKinsey & Co., Dalberg, Vera Solutions and PricewaterhouseCoopers about their experiences in consulting careers. Organized in collaboration with the Graduate Institute Alumni Relations and Career Services Department.

Consulting Project with UN Women: 15 October - 30 November 2016

A GCN Executive Board member and one Graduate Institute student worked with our partner consultancy SustainableOutreach to help devise a private sector fundraising strategy for UN Women. 

Business Strategy and Community Impact with Start-Up Enda

Two teams of four Graduate Institute students conducted projects for Enda Athletic, a small start-up with a social purpose in Kenya. The Corporate team developed a business strategy for Enda, while the Social team explored ways for the small company to create value for the community.

Pilot Consulting Project with UNICEF: 1 March - 15 May 2016

GCN's founding partners, as well as two Graduate Institute students undertook an intensive project led by our partner firm SustainableOutreach to develop a long-term private sector engagement strategy for UNICEF.

High-Level Organization and Strategy Questions with IRHA

A team of three GCN Executive Board members and one Graduate Institute PhD student helped IRHA rethink its mission, organizational structure and business strategy during this intensive summer project.
